The methodology
Most resources for people going through divorce address how it feels. Very few address what actually broke.
When a marriage ends, the emotional experience is real and it deserves attention. But something else happens too — something that gets almost no direct support.
The systems that organised daily life stop working. The schedule that structured the week. The financial picture that made sense. The household that ran a certain way. The social network built around a shared life. The roles and routines that gave the days shape. All of it was architected around a structure that no longer exists.
This is not a metaphor. It’s a practical reality. And it requires a practical response.
The framework
The Structure Institute uses a curriculum-based, group-facilitated approach to help people rebuild the practical architecture of their daily lives after major transition. Four elements define the methodology:
Curriculum-based — This is not open-ended conversation. There is a defined body of content, organised into a clear arc. You move through it. Each session addresses a specific domain of life. By the end, you’ve covered the ground that needed covering.
Group-facilitated — Small groups of people at similar stages in the transition, led by a trained facilitator. The group provides accountability, perspective, and the specific relief of being around people who understand the practical chaos — not just the emotional one.
Time-bounded — A specific number of weeks. A clear finish line. You know what you’re working toward and when you’ll get there. One of the disorienting things about transition is the feeling that it has no end. The program has an end.
Practically focused — Every session addresses a real domain of life: finances, scheduling, housing, logistics, social structure, identity, future planning. The focus is on the systems themselves — not feelings about the systems. Both are real. Only one of them has this program.
A platform, not a single program
Divorce Reset is where we start. But the methodology doesn’t stop there.
Structural disruption is not unique to divorce. Job loss, the death of a spouse, a serious medical diagnosis, a major relocation — each of these events dismantles the architecture of a life in ways that require the same kind of structured, practical response.
The Structure Institute is designed from the outset as a platform. The framework travels. Future programs will address other major transitions as the Institute grows.
